The programme offers a comprehensive study of the forms and methods of territorial and strategic planning as a special type of administrative activity. Special attention is paid to structural elements of territorial planning, its main technological stages, as well as special software designed for engineering and spatial planning agencies.

The Institute boasts a number of specialized laboratories - the laboratories of digital cartography and photogrammetry, maritime research, terrestrial laser scanning, and the laboratory of strategic planning and management.

  • participate in complex field and laboratory research on various problems of urban and the spatial development;
  • carry out geographical and environmental impact assessment of spatial development projects;
  • do spatial planning and develop spatial temporal forecasts;
  • teach geography in schools, colleges and universities.
