IKBFU Physicists Study the Influence of Magnetic Field Inhomogeneity on Thin Film Structures

A team of scientists from the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University together with their colleagues from Russia, Japan, and Australia studied the influence of inhomogeneity of magnetic field applied during the fabrication process of thin-film structures made from nickel-iron and iridium-manganese alloys, on their properties. These systems can be used in various types of magnetic field sensors. The article of the team was published in the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.

A New Lens for Microscopy Has Been Developed

IKBFU physicists have designed a new model of a variable focus lens called a mini transfocator. It may be used in microscopic research that requires compact and mobile optical systems. The development was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science with a grant (No. 14. Y26.31.0002). The results were published in the Microscopy and Microanalysis journal.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University Prepares for the Visit of the International Accreditation Committee from China

he International Accreditation Committee from China will visit the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University on November 20, 2018. For three days, experts will be assessing the quality of several master’s study programmes in two clusters: "Philology" and "Physics". The public accreditation of the study programmes  is not a formal quality assurance procedure. It is aimed at a further perfection of education and training, meeting the needs of the labour market, employers and students.
