29 December 2018Dear colleagues!
As 2018 draws to a close, the year has seen a major milestone for our university. Our researchers have significantly increased the number of publications in Scopus and Web of Science international citation bases. Students from 28 countries and 80 regions of the Russian Federation have joined our University family. Almost 40% of those who came to study at the University are from outside the Kaliningrad Region.
One of the highlights of the year was the meeting of the Council on Enhancing the Competitiveness of Leading Russian Universities among Global Research and Education Centres (the 5-100 Project), which was held in the IKBFU. We successfully presented our development strategy to the Council and strengthened the position of the University in the 5-100 ranking.
One of the most important indicators of the development of the IKBFU is the fact that the world’s leading scientists have come to work at our University this year. They have won research grants, led our research groups and established new research priorities.
The next year sets challenging and ambitious goals for us, though I am sure that we can achieve them working together as a big team.
In the meantime, I wish you and your families a wonderful festive season.
Merry Christmas and a very happy new year!
Prof. Dr Andrei Klemeshev,
Rector of the Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University
