IKBFU Laboratory of New Magnetic Materials celebrates its first anniversary

4 July 2018
Laboratory for new magnetic materials was established on June 1, 2013 in the “Fabrika” Science and Technology Park.

At start, the laboratory focused on material science as well as magnetic properties and dynamics of the motion of the domain boundary of ferromagnetic materials. Thanks to the development program of the federal university, the laboratory got the equipment that makes it possible to produce nanomaterials and go deeper into researching their properties. Later, the laboratory expanded the study areas, so physical development began to be used for biomedical applications, e.g. manipulating cells, to investigate local and non-destructive effects of physical contact.

As Valeria Rodionova, the head of the laboratory and its founder notes, five years is enough to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the research unit. The laboratory currently has 3 large grants and 15 small ones. It developed an innovative master program jointly with the FunMagMa center. The publication activity and the number of invited reports of the group is growing. Currently 18 employees and 10 students work in the laboratory.
