8 May 2018A research team from the IKBFU developed two pipe modelling pieces of software within a federal research and technology excellence programme. This software is designed to calculate the stress-strain state of metal for manufacturing curled skelps for LSAW pipes and to compute strain regime and calibrating passes for producing LSAW pipes.
At the end of February, the IKBFU submitted the software for national registration.
Prof Valery Savin who is leading the project, believes that the new software is not inferior to the German Copra package and, in some applied aspects, it surpasses its imported counterpart.
The project’s industrial partner is the Techno Tube company, whose manufacturing site is located 35 km east of Kaliningrad.
Prof Valery Savin:
«The national registration of our software opens up new opportunities of commercialising the project’s deliverables. In particular, this concerns the computation of roll pass calibration for manufacturing pipes of any shape».
