5 July 2017On June 1st the farewell ceremony for a group of volunteers to the Confederations Cup took place at I.Kant BFU. The Cup will be held in Russia from June 17 to July 2. The meeting was attended by the Rector of BFU Andrei Klemeshev, the first Vice-rector for academic affairs Irina Kuksa, the vice-governor of the Kaliningrad region Natalia Ischenko and the general director of the ANO "Kaliningrad 2018 Directorate" Pavel Sarkisov. The meeting was timed to the first year of the Kaliningrad Volunteer Training Center for the FIFA 2018 World Cup in Russia. The center operates in I. Kant BFU and for a year of work it has been able to attract more than 1,700 people to become volunteers.
The volunteers talked about their activities and preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. They showed videos about how their trips to football matches which were held in various cities of Russia. They had the opportunity to talk to the rector of the university Andrei Klemeshev and interim governor of the Kaliningrad region Natalia Ishchenko, who at the end of the meeting handed them a soccer ball signed by the interim governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov, and wished the volonteers all possible luck. The university rector expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the volunteer movement does not just exist at the university, but actively develops, it allows students to learn the world, find new friends, learn how to work in a team and show their abilities.
