Summer Course: “Kaliningrad: Bridge between Europe and Russia”

A one-week summer course: “Kaliningrad: Bridge between Europe and Russia” aims at exploring captivating features of the Kaliningrad region, a Russian exclave in the middle of Europe on the Baltic sea coast and its role in the international arena. Throughout the course the participants will have a possibility to attend Russian language classes, thematic lectures and a selection of activities. The day starts with a Russian language class followed by a 2-hour lecture on various characteristic features of the region, including history, geography, culture, law, economics and international cooperation. In the afternoon the participants are welcome to join various activities closely connected to the morning lecture: a city tour, excursions to museums, a quest, etc. The main goal of these activities is to illustrate the facts discussed during the lectures, make the study process more interactive and hands-on.

As a graduation project the participants are expected to prepare and give group presentations on one of the aspects covered during the studies.

In addition, a number of leisure activities are planned at the end of the course. These is a Russian movie night at the university library, an excursion to Svetlogorsk, a seaside resort and a goodbye dinner where the participants will be awarded their certificates and celebrate this special occasion.

The Summer School is organized in partnership with the Council of the Baltic Sea States.

Admission

The application includes the following documents:

1. Filled in application form for international students;

2. Filled in application for a visa invitation ;

3. Copy of the main page of your travel passport;

4. Copy of the main page of your student"s ID card (if any).

Tuition fee

The course fee amounts to 17 068 RUR (267 US dollars) and covers the following:

  • 5 two-hour lectures on various aspects of life in the Kaliningrad region;

  • 5 Russian language classes;

  • Study materials;

  • Accommodation at the University dormitory;

  • Issue of a visa invitation and registration in Kaliningrad;

  • Excursions round the University, city of Kaliningrad and the Kaliningrad region;

  • Buddy assistance.

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University arranges accommodation for all participants of the Summer School who are offered a place in a double/triple room of the University dormitory. The rooms are: - fully furnished with a shower, WC and kitchen; - in a close proximity to the campus: approx. within 10 min. walk from the campus; - have Wi-fi connection.
