Summer Course: “Kaliningrad: Bridge between Europe and Russia”

A one-week summer course: “Kaliningrad: Bridge between Europe and Russia” aims at exploring captivating features of the Kaliningrad region, a Russian exclave in the middle of Europe on the Baltic sea coast and its role in the international arena. Throughout the course the participants will have a possibility to attend Russian language classes, thematic lectures and a selection of activities. The day starts with a Russian language class followed by a 2-hour lecture on various characteristic features of the region, including history, geography, culture, law, economics and international cooperation. In the afternoon the participants are welcome to join various activities closely connected to the morning lecture: a city tour, excursions to museums, a quest, etc. The main goal of these activities is to illustrate the facts discussed during the lectures, make the study process more interactive and hands-on.

As a graduation project the participants are expected to prepare and give group presentations on one of the aspects covered during the studies.

In addition, a number of leisure activities are planned at the end of the course. These is a Russian movie night at the university library, an excursion to Svetlogorsk, a seaside resort and a goodbye dinner where the participants will be awarded their certificates and celebrate this special occasion.

«Intensive Summer School of Russian Language and Culture»

Intensive Summer School 2020 lasts 1 month and will give you a deep insight into the Russian grammar and vocabulary for personal and professional goals. The school is designed for everyone who would like to master everyday Russian language, get deep immersion into the Russian culture and learn more about the higher education system in Russia.
Terms: July 27 – August 21, 2020 
The school program will help you
·         improve your pronunciation
·         deepen grammar and vocabulary
·         enhance communication skills

The social program of the school includes city tours and trips to the tourist and historical places of the Kaliningrad region. You will be as well introduced to the university campus and vibrant student life.

The application includes the following documents:

1. Filled in application form for international students;
2. Filled in application for a visa invitation;
3. Copy of the main page of your travel passport;
4. Copy of the main page of your student's ID card (if any).

In order to apply for the DAAD financial support, please also submit:

1. a letter of motivation;
2. a CV of yours.

Short-term courses

Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University offers short-term and long-term courses for international students of beginner (A1) and intermediate (B1) levels.

The application is open throughout the year and classes start when there are at least 5 applicants. The course for beginners develops basic everyday skills (communication in the street, on public transport, in shops and cafes), give an overall understanding of the principles of Russian grammar and pronunciation. The course at pre-intermediate level helps establish communicative skills, improve or activate already existing knowledge of the Russian language.
