Programme Information

The programme aims to train highly qualified education and research specialists in Historical and Theoretical (Fundamental) Legal Research capable of introducing innovations into science, education, culture and management.

Programme's advantages:

The PhD programme is designed to meet the following professional standards: "Teacher" professional standard (draft); "Researcher" professional standard (draft).

Upon completing the programme, you will:

  • have the knowledge of historical and theoretical (fundamental) framework of legal research;

  • be able to define a scientific problem in Historical and Theoretical (Fundamental) Legal Research and to find a solution to that problem

40.06.01 . Law. Legal and Political Theory and History, History of Legal and Political Thought.

Duration of the Programme: 3 years.

Programme type: Full-time.

Courses & Study Load

ECTS credits: 180

Core courses: History and Philosophy of Science, Foreign Language, Scientific Research Methodology and Results Presentation, Current Problems of the Field, Legal and Political Theory and History; History of Legal and Political Thought, Research Seminar, Types of Law and States / Problem of Legal Consciousness in Russian Legal Science, Current Challenges in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

Professional Training / Internships

Students are able to access publishing and library centre of the IKBFU.

Students have access to the archives of the Kaliningrad region.

Students have academic mobility within the framework of 5-100 programme; this includes scientific internship, participating in conferences, etc.

Students receive scientific advice from the leading scientists of the Institute of Law of the IKBFU.

Admission & Tuition
State-funded applicants (Russian nationals and  Russian speaking applicants from the CIS countries) are  expected to  take  the following exams:
