Programme Information

The programme aims at a comprehensive study of theoretical foundations of general ecology, geo-ecology, human ecology, social ecology, environmental protection, and applied ecology. The knowledge gained will help graduates orient in a multitude of environmental technologies, modern methods of environmental protection, as well as give a deep understanding of ​​the fundamental teachings of the atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere.

The goal of the programme is to train highly qualified, competitive specialists in ecology and natural resources management.

IKBFU Centre for Ecology and Natural Resources Management contributes to the practice-oriented training in Ecology and Natural Resources Management.

Upon completion of the training programme, students will be able to:

  • do field studies and take part in research expeditions;

  • collect and process data for environmental impact assessment;

  • assess different types of impact on the environment;

  • elaborate strategies and programmes of regional development based on the existing natural resources;

  • carry out environmental impact assessment of socio-economic and economic activities;

  • teach geography in schools, colleges and universities.

Basic courses:

Computer technology and information processing, environmental safety of nature management, psychological and pedagogical foundations of ecological safety, environmental legislative framework, environmental chemistry, natural and anthropogenic changes in natural systems of protected areas, health and environmental safety of coastal areas, environmental metrology, innovative strategies in environmental management and auditing, remote sensing of environment and GIS technologies in environmental modeling and assessment of geo-ecological situations, environmental protection assessment methods, physical and chemical methods of research, methodological foundations of environmental education, modern educational technologies for sustainable development, investment planning and environmental impact assessment, administrative decision-making.

Graduates can apply for various positions in companies and institutions specialising in environmental protection and nature conservation, in environmental management agencies (environmental agencies and institutions); the Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring, Environmental Safety and Environmental Policy; environmental monitoring agencies; centers and organizations whose activities are related to the monitoring of environmental pollution.

Admission & Tuition

To enter a Master's programme  applicants are  required to take the following exams:

  • Written exam  (or a test)  in the chosen field of study (100 points maximum)

  • Foreign language (a pass or fail  test)

We also accept international certificates of proficiency in English

Cambridge exam: PET, FCE, CAE, CPE; IELTS; TOEFL or

German: Goethe-Zertifikat A2, Goethe-Zertifikat Fit in Deutsch, Goethe-Zertifikat B1 / B2 , -Goethe-Zertifikat C1, Goethe-Zertifikat C2: GDS, test DaF, DSD B2 / C1, - telc A2 / B1 / C1 / C2, -ÖSD, -DSH.
